Introduction

The Suicide Prevention Services, the former Caritas Counselling Center, was established in August 1984. It was renamed as the Caritas-Life Hope Hotline of Macau on 1st January 2001 and the service hour was extended to 2 a.m. in October. Later, in response to social need, it officially began to provide 24 hours non-stop telephone emotional counseling services to residents in Macau in July 2003.

Expat Life Hope Hotline was established in June 2016. It mainly uses English and Portuguese to assist everyone who needs help, support and consultation. The vision is to help foreigners of different nationalities, regardless of age, faith, and gender, to get inner peace.

Objective

Share worries with others, work together to find out solutions and encourage people who face adversity to live actively.

Service Content

Help callers to relieve the inner troubles through the hotline and minimize their self-destructive behavior in critical situations. Face-to-face counseling would be arranged by social workers, if necessary.
