School profile
It is a Catholic school under Caritas de Macau and has a Chinese, English and Evening Section respectively. Founded in November 1985, it was formerly a vocational training school. In June 1990, the School was constructed on a plot of land at Rua de Pedro Coutinho generously provided by the Canossian Daughters of Charity. The cost of building the School was partly funded by the government. The newly constructed School was officially opened in 1992. Subsequently in 1994, in line with the needs of community, the vocational training school was transformed to a Chinese grammar school. The School was renamed “Escola São João de Brito” in the following year and joined the free public educational network of the Macau government. Later on, the Macau government approved a site at Av. Sir Anders Ljungstedt, No. 258E-266, Edificio Pak Tak, 3rd Floor for the English Section. The original site at Rua de Pedro Coutinho was retained for the Chinese and Evening Sections. In 2016, the English Section was relocated to the 3rd and 4th Floor of the School building at Rua de Pedro Coutinho and sharing the premises with the Chinese Section.
