Introduction

In 1963, we started our journey to take care of poor people in two small houses beside NossaSenhora Village of Macau.

In 1977, Father Gaetano Nicosia used the funds raised to build a three-level building and expand the facilities. In October that year, the centre was officially named as " Centro De Santa Lucia", which provides residential services for people who are physical handicap, and mentally-ill.

In February 1990, Franciscan Missionaries of Mary assisted the management of the centre, which slowly transformed the centre into only taking care of female patients with mental illness. Since January 1993, Irmãs da Caridade de Santa Ana has been assisting the management of the Center.

In recent years, with the support and assistance of the Social Welfare Bureau and Caritas Macau, our centre has developed into a more completed mental rehabilitation centre.

Objective

Centro De Santa Lucia is a rehabilitation service unit under Caritas Macau. Our centre provides residential care, community activities, and individual and group activities to women with mental illness. We assist them to learn self-care skills and to develop their potentials, thus achieving social inclusion.

Aim

• Provide a comfortable environment and good service for our service users;

• Promote solidarity and the spirit of helping each other;

• Encourage and assist service users to reach out to the community. Communicate and promote learning with them and develop their potentials by participating in various activities.

Service Content

• Residential Respite Services;

• Medical services;

• Outdoor and indoor activities;

• 24 hours of nursing care;

• Sports activities;

• Education;

• Group activities;

• Recreational activities;

• Counselling services.

Service Target

• Health condition proved by doctors that is suitable for living in the institution and without serious communicable diseases

• Women aged 16 or above with chronic mental illness and physical handicap.

Facilities: TV room, badminton court, basketball court, occupational treatment room, consultation room, classroom, craft room, etc.

Application

Referral by the Instituto de Acção Social of your district.

Fee

MOP2,000 per month. (Remarks: fees can be adjusted according to family’s economic status)

9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.; 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
