Introduction

On September 26, 2011, Caritas Macao launched short-term food assistance service. Our service works as a channel to reach people with financial difficulties, we can evaluate and follow these cases in early stage. This mitigates some potential social problems from sources. In the long run, we pay attention to and address the poverty problem in society, with the aid of community power.

Objective

• Short-term objective: provide emergency short-term food assistance services for low-income and needy people in Macao to alleviate their difficulties.

• Medium-term objective: provide encouraging and supportive service for our target groups, enhance their personal or family members' physical and mental resilience, and improve their quality of life.

• Long-term objective: encourage the public to pay attention to the poverty problem in society, propagate the spirit of caring and sharing, build a community of mutual assistance and harmony.

Target Group

Low-income individuals and families who live in Macao regularly and hold a Macao SAR resident identity card. Also, the candidates are not covered in Social Welfare Bureau’s financial assistance network and are subject to the evaluation criteria of our service.
